Vector Automobiles

The Vector W8 was an American sports car from the early 1990s. It was manufactured by Vector Supercars. Just 21, W8s were produced, with the car retailing for $455,000 brand new.

The car was based around a 6.0 L V8 engine, coupled to a three-speed automatic transmission provided by General Motors. The engine had twin turbochargers, which produced 625 hp at 5700 rpm and 650 ft-lbs of torque. The Vector was estimated to do 210 mph.

The W8 was essentially an upgrade of the same company's earlier prototype, the Vector W2. The car's first customer was tennis star Andre Agassi. Production of the W8 ended in 1993, when the company was purchased by Megatech.

A red W8 made a rare appearance in the 1993 movie Rising Sun starring Sean Connery and Wesley Snipes. The car was owned by the character Eddie. The Vector's main competitors were the Lamborghini Diablo, the Ferrari F40, and the McLaren F1.
